Thank you community advocates.

Kerry, Tammy, Victoria and others, I appreciate your concern and dedication to protecting the public over the years. Your years of dedicated advocacy ensured that the Callahan site was successfully cleaned so that the entire community can be proud the property is part of our neighborhood..

Thorough research, including numerous rounds of testing, have consistently shown there is no further cause for concern. Thanks to interim corrective action performed in 1982 and the final remedy that was performed in 2012 the contaminants have all been removed from the ground.

It is easy to confuse the Bliss and Callahan properties. Often the media reports incorrectly reference scientific data from the two properties. Even the expert’s reports can be confusing and in some cases lump the two properties together in their analysis. However, numerous independent firms have analyzed the Callahan property and the testing that was performed by the EPA. In each case the firm has concluded that no additional testing is required and that the Callahan property (unlike the Bliss property) is safe for all current and potential future uses.

Due to the hard work of the community the site is now safe. Evidence from the numerous rounds of testing shows this property is as safe as any other property in Wildwood. We are confident the dedication of many has paid off and now this property can finally be another great part of this great community. We are excited to make Wildwood our home.
